NSW inquiry report released

NSW inquiry report released

The NSW Parliamentary inquiry into the health and wellbeing of kangaroos and other macropods in NSW has recently released a final report with six findings and 23 recommendations. The committee received 405 submissions and 18 supplementary submissions. IKPA supports any initiatives to improve kangaroo welfare and conservation. IKPA members provided expert testimony in June to the Parliamentary inquiry. The final report summarises the expert testimony, inquiry findings and recommendations to reform how kangaroos, wallaroos and wallabies are managed across NSW. IKPA hopes this will inspire a similar investigation in other states that kill kangaroos for commercial and non-commercial purposes to ultimately bring about human - kangaroo coexistence.
